This year was an pretty good bookish year. I read (excluding ebook excerpts, and including rereads) 50 books. And I am really happy with that. That was my goal for this year! I also read 11 ebook excerpts. I didn't count those because they are short and they're not really books. Oh well.
So I have some goals I would like to fulfill next year. There are some personal goals I want to accomplish which I will not share with the world, but I also have some reading goals and I want to share those with you as this is a book blog. YAY!
Reading goals:
1. Obviously, I want to challenge myself to read some books. This time I won't challenge myself to read 50 books. On goodreads, I will put a 30 book challenge but in my heart I know that I want to read 40 books. If I put 40 books on goodreads it will make me feel pressured and my brain will explode and I won't be able to do it. Oh well. So I will challenge myself to read 40 books. If I read more I am really happy with myself.
2. I want to read one classic. Doesn't matter which one, but I just wanna read a classic. Just one.
3. There are a few books that I will surely read, like Ignite Me, City of Heavenly Fire, The Murder Complex, etc. But there are still some books that I really want to read. Here's some of them: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp (saw the movie and I was a tiny bit confused), The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, Silver Linings Playbook by Mathew Quick, an A.S. King book, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, a Neil Gaiman book, Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion (I couldn't read it this year), etc. There are a few more that I'd like to read but I just don't remember them. Oh well.
I think those were my reading goals. I really hope to accomplish them because they're not that hard.
Writing goals:
1. Write more. I haven't written anything that was worth anything this year. And it's ok. I am disappointed but it's fine. I at least learned more about writing and how to make something worth something
2. Write fan fiction. I think if I do this it will help a lot with my writing and it will be good practice.
3. Write a draft of one of my stories, or at least make a rough outline of it in my head or something. I have three stories; one of them is a children's book, where a boy wakes up on the moon and he befriends a werewolf and they travel around the moon; the second one is a dystopian YA book where beautiful looking kids or teenagers are taken by companies and made into "stars" and that's the only thing that's advertised and showed on TV and Malachi and his brother James are running away from them and one day James gets caught and they take him and Malachi wants to save him and along with James he takes with him a girl about his age from them and they run away from there; the last one is a YA contemporary I think about a girl who just finished music high school in Romania and plans on going abroad to study piano at university and she has an obsession with Beethoven and she resurrects him and makes him finish his "lost symphony". And I'd like to write all of them but I don't think I'll be able to.
4. Write at least once a week. Whether it's for fan fic or for one of my stories, I should just write at least once a week. For the first half of the year I will be really busy so I don't think I'll be able to do this one, with school and stuff.
Hopefully we'll all have a good year. And I really wish to have one because this year is very important to me to be good. This past year wasn't all that bad. It was really good. But it could've been better.
Happy new year, everyone!
Goodbye,
Di.

Books I liked in 2013.
Hello fellow Earth people! I am not an alien but I still come in peace. I come to you today with a list of books I really liked in this year that is about to end. YAY!
(note: these are in no particular order. I put them like this because they popped in my head like that. Thanks <3)
One of the best books this year has brought upon my eyes is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This book has been everywhere on the internet this year! Ever since it got released I've heard nothing but good things about this book and I swear that the things I've heard about this book have lived up to my expectations. I read it and I fell in love with it. It's so relatable especially if you're in lots of fandoms, not necessarily a person who writes fanfic. And the whole love story that happens in the book is the most adorable thing ever! I wrote a review on this book which you can check out here!
Obviously, this year has brought surprise to my life. I have never imagined a year ago that The Mortal Instruments series would become one of my favourite series ever this year. I would've slapped myself and tell myself to go to bed because I'm drunk. I fell in love with this series the way you fall asleep: slowly and then all at once. I loved it. I read the first book, didn't enjoy it that much, read the second book, and then the next one, and then the next one until I've read the whole series so far and I entered a fandom where everybody is in mourning right now because the next book comes out in 5 months *sigh*. I feel for you people of the TMI fandom! I FEEL FOR YOU!
(reviews for CoB and CoA here)
Another series that blew my mind this year is the Legend series. I fell in love with it only after about 100 pages but that doesn't matter because it quickly became one of my favourite series. And if you haven't read it yet, what are you doing? Go to the first bookshelf and buy the whole series and just read it! This series got better as I read it. Champion is an amazing book and it just broke my heart. I loved everything in this series. Everything. You should read it. Please <3
And the award for funnies book I've read this year (probably, it was a while ago) goes to THIS BABY! I read this at the beginning of the year, so I don't remember much but I do know that it was a really witty and funny and heart-warning book and I really enjoyed it. It might not be for everyone. Because some characters might annoy you. John's Will might seem annoying, as I only remember liking David's Will or at least all I remember reading is the story-line of David's Will and Tiny Cooper, the most adorable fictional gay guy ever. Read on fellows! Read on!
This was the first series I read this year and I loved it! I actually read it twice just to be sure. And I recommend you to read it! I want you to read it! *dalek voice* OBEY OBEEEEEY! It's such a good story! I just suddenly feel like rereading it. OH WELL! I shall buy it and then read it. Hopefully. (looked it up. found it. price is ok will buy next year. sometime) It definitely is one of my favourite series ever because it's just so so funny and adorable and I just wanna hug Gwendolyn and Gideon and Xemerius (obviously). The movie sucked but I really wish someone in Hollywood read this book so they can make a better job at adapting a book which has lots of potential. Review here.
Don't judge me on this but this series is very good. The first book might be annoying and too metaphorical and shit but it gets better! It's at the bottom of my top something of favourite series but it's in the top! Which is good! I love this series because it's action packed and there is crazy fighting and suspense and everything good! And Warner. Of course. We all love us some Warner, don't we? Reviews 1, 1.5 & 3.
Everybody loves this book. Everybody. I did. I just remember I did. This time last year I was reading it because I wanted to savour the book, not just fly through it like a plow. Obviously, Charlie is a really heart melting character. Not because he's adorable and what not but because of his story and because it makes sympathetic for him. And that's good, I think.
I really hope you liked this list, because I enjoyed making it. I know they're not many books. I read over 30 books this year but there were some that couldn't match the criteria (wat). Or I just simply didn't like them enough to end up in this list. Like Where She Went by Gayle Forman. Loved that book. It was amazing. But there were some things that held me back to put it here. Shatter Me didn't blew me away but it was really good and it had potential from the beginning and it rose to that potential in the second book. Also, I read the first two books in TDI series, but I didn't like it enough to put it here. I blame the translation. Oh well.
But in other news, I am in a mourning period after City of Lost Souls. THE NEXT COMES OUT ONLY IN MAY WHYYYYYY!! I can't believe I fell in love so much with this series! And Simon. Everybody's like "ermahgerd! Jace!" but not me, ladies and gentlemen! I like my boys hot gamers and awkward! That's all I have to say.
Ok! I must depart from the internetz this evening.
Goodbye!
Di.

The Winter Wonderland TAG!
I come back with a tag as I don't know (well, I do, but I just can't) what to write about. Sooo, here we go!
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is quite my favourite YA this year. It's so fluffy and totes adorbs! You must read it!
I would say Champion by Marie Lu but if you're an OCD little shit then it's Let it Snow by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle. They're both so fucking awesome! If I had to choose between the two of these I would go with Champion. Obviously.
4. It started snowing so you decided to have a snowball fight! What fictional character would you love to have the snowball fight with?
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY MAKING ME CHOOSE?!!!???!?!?! I hate you. I would like to have a snowball fight with Simon from the Mortal Instruments. I think. There are SO many I could choose!!
Allegiant would be a pretty ok choice, HOWEVER! The better choice is Matched. I would throw that book wholly in the fire! I did not enjoy that little shit. The story was so promising and I loved the beginning! It was really good! And then everything went to hell when the wild Ky appeared. *facebrick*
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. 'nuff said. Harry Potter got me into reading, but I don't think everyone would get into it as much as I did. But TFiOS is a really good choice. You know it!
So this have been the answers to this tag.
Have a very merry Christmas., everyone!
Di.
1. What book is so happy and sweet that it warms your heart?
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is quite my favourite YA this year. It's so fluffy and totes adorbs! You must read it!
2. What is your favorite book with a white cover?
I would say Champion by Marie Lu but if you're an OCD little shit then it's Let it Snow by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle. They're both so fucking awesome! If I had to choose between the two of these I would go with Champion. Obviously.
3. You're sitting in a nice comfy chair, wearing a onesie, with a lovely warm hot chocolate but what MONSTER read are you reading?
(Hopefully the milk in the hot chocolate is soy milk because I'm lactose intolerant) Right now I am actually reading a monster of a book: City of Lost Souls. It's freaking huge! About 542 pages. That is quite huge. The writing isn't that small so believe me. It's huge!
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY MAKING ME CHOOSE?!!!???!?!?! I hate you. I would like to have a snowball fight with Simon from the Mortal Instruments. I think. There are SO many I could choose!!
5. Sadly, your fire is beginning to go out. So what book would you tear the last few chapters out to throw into the fire?
Allegiant would be a pretty ok choice, HOWEVER! The better choice is Matched. I would throw that book wholly in the fire! I did not enjoy that little shit. The story was so promising and I loved the beginning! It was really good! And then everything went to hell when the wild Ky appeared. *facebrick*
6. What book is so close to your heart that you would gift to someone this Christmas who hasn't read before but wants to get into reading?
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. 'nuff said. Harry Potter got me into reading, but I don't think everyone would get into it as much as I did. But TFiOS is a really good choice. You know it!
So this have been the answers to this tag.

I AM BURDENED WITH GLORIOUS BOOKS!
I am so sorry for my absence. School happened. I am sorry.
But I come back to you with a book haul thingie.
Ever since I last made a book haul here I bought some books. And I'm really excited about them!
First off, I got the Harry Potter books that I didn't own, which are 3, 4, 6 and 7, from this newspaper that was selling them really cheap and I got them all and now my collection, though very amusing looking, is complete!
I got Clockwork Prince and Shatter Me because they were half the price I would've payed in the bookstore and I was reading Clockwork Angel at the time. It was really good.
I also went by the library this week and I got three books (I would've taken more but that's the limit) that I will hopefully read this upcoming winter break.
So we've got City of Lost Souls, as I haven't read it yet and I wanted to leave it for the Christmas break because school, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas which has a fucking gorgeous cover and Inferno by Dan Brown which I will be hopefully read.
Look at how beautiful the cover of Throne of Glass is!!
So there goes my book haul of books I bought and books I got from the library.
Hope you enjoyed it.
I might write a review for The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug, which I saw yesterday. I won't promise anything.
Thank you.
Goodbye,
D.
