2014 book goals

This year was an pretty good bookish year. I read (excluding ebook excerpts, and including rereads) 50 books.  And I am really happy with that. That was my goal for this year! I also read 11 ebook excerpts. I didn't count those because they are short and they're not really books. Oh well.
So I have some goals I would like to fulfill next year. There are some personal goals I want to accomplish which I will not share with the world, but I also have some reading goals and I want to share those with you as this is a book blog. YAY!

Reading goals:

1. Obviously, I want to challenge myself to read some books. This time I won't challenge myself to read 50 books. On goodreads, I will put a 30 book challenge but in my heart I know that I want to read 40 books. If I put 40 books on goodreads it will make me feel pressured and my brain will explode and I won't be able to do it. Oh well. So I will challenge myself to read 40 books. If I read more I am really happy with myself.

2. I want to read one classic. Doesn't matter which one, but I just wanna read a classic. Just one.

3. There are a few books that I will surely read, like Ignite Me, City of Heavenly Fire, The Murder Complex, etc. But there are still some books that I really want to read. Here's some of them: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp (saw the movie and I was a tiny bit confused), The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, Silver Linings Playbook by Mathew Quick, an A.S. King book, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, a Neil Gaiman book, Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion (I couldn't read it this year), etc. There are a few more that I'd like to read but I just don't remember them. Oh well.

I think those were my reading goals. I really hope to accomplish them because they're not that hard.

Writing goals:

1. Write more. I haven't written anything that was worth anything this year. And it's ok. I am disappointed but it's fine. I at least learned more about writing and how to make something worth something

2. Write fan fiction. I think if I do this it will help a lot with my writing and it will be good practice.

3. Write a draft of one of my stories, or at least make a rough outline of it in my head or something. I have three stories; one of them is a children's book, where a boy wakes up on the moon and he befriends a werewolf and they travel around the moon; the second one is a dystopian YA book where beautiful looking kids or teenagers are taken by companies and made into "stars" and that's the only thing that's advertised and showed on TV and Malachi and his brother James are running away from them and one day James gets caught and they take him and Malachi wants to save him and along with James he takes with him a girl about his age from them and they run away from there; the last one is a YA contemporary I think about a girl who just finished music high school in Romania and plans on going abroad to study piano at university and she has an obsession with Beethoven and she resurrects him and makes him finish his "lost symphony". And I'd like to write all of them but I don't think I'll be able to.

4. Write at least once a week. Whether it's for fan fic or for one of my stories, I should just write at least once a week. For the first half of the year I will be really busy so I don't think I'll be able to do this one, with school and stuff.

Hopefully we'll all have a good year. And I really wish to have one because this year is very important to me to be good. This past year wasn't all that bad. It was really good. But it could've been better.

Happy new year, everyone!

Goodbye,
Di.

The opposites tag.

It's the last day of 2013. If you didn't know. Lol. Which basically means I need to catch up with the posts. Oh well.So I come to you with a tag! WUUT WUUT!

Books I liked in 2013.

Hello fellow Earth people! I am not an alien but I still come in peace. I come to you today with a list of books I really liked in this year that is about to end. YAY!

(note: these are in no particular order. I put them like this because they popped in my head like that. Thanks <3)

One of the best books this year has brought upon my eyes is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. This book has been everywhere on the internet this year! Ever since it got released I've heard nothing but good things about this book and I swear that the things I've heard about this book have lived up to my  expectations. I read it and I fell in love with it. It's so relatable especially if you're in lots of fandoms, not necessarily a person who writes fanfic. And the whole love story that happens in the book is the most adorable thing ever! I wrote a review on this book which you can check out here!

Obviously, this year has brought surprise to my life. I have never imagined a year ago that The Mortal Instruments series would become one of my favourite series ever this year. I would've slapped myself and tell myself to go to bed because I'm drunk. I fell in love with this series the way you fall asleep: slowly and then all at once. I loved it. I read the first book, didn't enjoy it that much, read the second book, and then the next one, and then the next one until I've read the whole series so far and I entered a fandom where everybody is in mourning right now because the next book comes out in 5 months *sigh*. I feel for you people of the TMI fandom! I FEEL FOR YOU!
(reviews for CoB and CoA here)

Another series that blew my mind this year is the Legend series. I fell in love with it only after about 100 pages but that doesn't matter because it quickly became one of my favourite series. And if you haven't read it yet, what are you doing? Go to the first bookshelf and buy the whole series and just read it! This series got better as I read it. Champion is an amazing book and it just broke my heart. I loved everything in this series. Everything. You should read it. Please <3

And the award for funnies book I've read this year (probably, it was a while ago) goes to THIS BABY! I read this at the beginning of the year, so I don't remember much but I do know that it was a really witty and funny and heart-warning book and I really enjoyed it. It might not be for everyone. Because some characters might annoy you. John's Will might seem annoying, as I only remember liking David's Will or at least all I remember reading is the story-line of David's Will and Tiny Cooper, the most adorable fictional gay guy ever. Read on fellows! Read on!

This was the first series I read this year and I loved it! I actually read it twice just to be sure. And I recommend you to read it! I want you to read it! *dalek voice* OBEY OBEEEEEY! It's such a good story! I just suddenly feel like rereading it. OH WELL! I shall buy it and then read it. Hopefully. (looked it up. found it. price is ok will buy next year. sometime) It definitely is one of my favourite series ever because it's just so so funny and adorable and I just wanna hug Gwendolyn and Gideon and Xemerius (obviously). The movie sucked but I really wish someone in Hollywood read this book so they can make a better job at adapting a book which has lots of potential. Review here.

Don't judge me on this but this series is very good. The first book might be annoying and too metaphorical and shit but it gets better! It's at the bottom of my top something of favourite series but it's in the top! Which is good! I love this series because it's action packed and there is crazy fighting and suspense and everything good! And Warner. Of course. We all love us some Warner, don't we? Reviews 1, 1.5 & 3.

Everybody loves this book. Everybody. I did. I just remember I did. This time last year I was reading it because I wanted to savour the book, not just fly through it like a plow. Obviously, Charlie is a really heart melting character. Not because he's adorable and what not but because of his story and because it makes sympathetic for him. And that's good, I think.

I really hope you liked this list, because I enjoyed making it. I know they're not many books. I read over 30 books this year but there were some that couldn't match the criteria (wat). Or I just simply didn't like them enough to end up in this list. Like Where She Went by Gayle Forman. Loved that book. It was amazing. But there were some things that held me back to put it here. Shatter Me didn't blew me away but it was really good and it had potential from the beginning and it rose to that potential in the second book. Also, I read the first two books in TDI series, but I didn't like it enough to put it here. I blame the translation. Oh well.
But in other news, I am in a mourning period after City of Lost Souls. THE NEXT COMES OUT ONLY IN MAY WHYYYYYY!! I can't believe I fell in love so much with this series! And Simon. Everybody's like "ermahgerd! Jace!" but not me, ladies and gentlemen! I like my boys hot gamers and awkward! That's all I have to say.
Ok! I must depart from the internetz this evening.
Goodbye!
Di.

The Winter Wonderland TAG!

I come back with a tag as I don't know (well, I do, but I just can't) what to write about. Sooo, here we go!

1. What book is so happy and sweet that it warms your heart?

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is quite my favourite YA this year. It's so fluffy and totes adorbs! You must read it!
2. What is your favorite book with a white cover?

I would say Champion by Marie Lu but if you're an OCD little shit then it's Let it Snow by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle. They're both so fucking awesome! If I had to choose between the two of these I would go with Champion. Obviously.

3. You're sitting in a nice comfy chair, wearing a onesie, with a lovely warm hot chocolate but what MONSTER read are you reading?

(Hopefully the milk in the hot chocolate is soy milk because I'm lactose intolerant) Right now I am actually reading a monster of a book: City of Lost Souls. It's freaking huge! About 542 pages. That is quite huge. The writing isn't that small so believe me. It's huge!

4. It started snowing so you decided to have a snowball fight! What fictional character would you love to have the snowball fight with?

ARE YOU SERIOUSLY MAKING ME CHOOSE?!!!???!?!?! I hate you. I would like to have a snowball fight with Simon from the Mortal Instruments. I think. There are SO many I could choose!!

5. Sadly, your fire is beginning to go out. So what book would you tear the last few chapters out to throw into the fire?

Allegiant would be a pretty ok choice, HOWEVER! The better choice is Matched. I would throw that book wholly in the fire! I did not enjoy that little shit. The story was so promising and I loved the beginning! It was really good! And then everything went to hell when the wild Ky appeared. *facebrick*

6. What book is so close to your heart that you would gift to someone this Christmas who hasn't read before but wants to get into reading?

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. 'nuff said. Harry Potter got me into reading, but I don't think everyone would get into it as much as I did. But TFiOS is a really good choice. You know it!

So this have been the answers to this tag.
Have a very merry Christmas., everyone!
Di.

I AM BURDENED WITH GLORIOUS BOOKS!

I am so sorry for my absence. School happened. I am sorry.
But I come back to you with a book haul thingie.
Ever since I last made a book haul here I bought some books. And I'm really excited about them!

First off, I got the Harry Potter books that I didn't own, which are 3, 4, 6 and 7, from this newspaper that was selling them really cheap and I got them all and now my collection, though very amusing looking, is complete!

I got Clockwork Prince and Shatter Me because they were half the price I would've payed in the bookstore and I was reading Clockwork Angel at the time. It was really good.

I also went by the library this week and I got three books (I would've taken more but that's the limit) that I will hopefully read this upcoming winter break.

So we've got City of Lost Souls, as I haven't read it yet and I wanted to leave it for the Christmas break because school, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas which has a fucking gorgeous cover and Inferno by Dan Brown which I will be hopefully read.

Look at how beautiful the cover of Throne of Glass is!!

So there goes my book haul of books I bought and books I got from the library.
Hope you enjoyed it.
I might write a review for The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug, which I saw yesterday. I won't promise anything.
Thank you.
Goodbye,
D.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - a review

I read this book this week and I fucking loved it. So I wrote a review for it. YAY!

** spoiler alert **

Title: Fangirl
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Country: United States
Language: English
 Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Publication date: September 10th, 2013
 Pages: 433 pages
Rating: ★★★★★
Fangirl
Reading this book was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
This was such an adorable book! I loved it!
It was just so fucking cute! All of it!
Cath is just so fucking awesome and relatable! I felt like I was her at some points, like everyone did. She was so cute whenever someone asked her out. I do that all the time! Except my reason is that my mum won't let me. I just loved this whole book. Rainbow Rowell has an amazing writing style. At first I wasn't that much into the whole 3rd person narration but I got used to it eventually. All of it was beautifully done.
When she started going to the library with Nick I didn't suspect anything, and I actually thought that he was the love interest, because it seemed like it. When he asked her if she was ok if he gave their story to their teacher I WANTED TO KILL HIM!
I was really frustrated that she said she was ok with it, that she was the humble one, but still. That wasn't fair to her at all.
All I did when Cath read to Levi that night was grin like a stupid kid and giggle because they were so fucking adorable. And then they kissed and everything was so perfect and cute!!

Don't tell me you didn't want to just hug both of them and congratulate them!
And then Cath went to that party and saw Levi kiss that girl and I was like THIS IS NOT HAPPENING! NOOOOOO!
I literally shed a tear or two at that.
Two things I enjoyed about this book is that whenever Cath felt like crying she wasn't like "I will hold my tears and try not to show that I am actually very hurt" and she just let the tears flow. I loved that and the other thing is that even if this book didn't have drama in it, it seemed like the drama that existed was really toned down and it was just enough for the whole story and all of it seemed realistic, and that it could actually happen in real life. Many YA contemporary books don't have that. One example is Anna and the French Kiss, but if that book didn't have the whole drama, it wouldn't have been as good as it is, I think.
My favourite part from the whole book was when Levi offered to take Cath home and she kissed his cheek when they arrived in sign of appreciation and THAT WAS SO CUTE! And then Levi was so fucking adorable to her and AAAARGH!
And then was the part when Caths' dad was in hospital and that made me sad and teary and when Wren got into hospital that was just, what the heck!
I love her dad. He's awesome. It somehow reminded me of my dad. Mine isn't a workaholic, but he's really nice to me and he trusts me and he's just awesome and understanding and he'd do anything for me. Not in the stupid kind of way, where I take advantage of him and ask him for money or whatever. He's really supportive and she seemed Arthur and I love him for that. I love Arthur.
My reaction when Nick asked to put her name in their story was like, really, dude? Really? You wanna do that?
And when she said that she won't do that THAT WAS THE BEST PART!!! YESYESYESYESYES!!! That was such a slap in the face! It was obvious that she had a huge part in writing the story, but she just wanted to slap him for that. And I loved her for that!
And of course Levi and Cath started being totes adorbs and I just wanted to hug them both.
While reading this book I felt hope for myself. Hope for actually finding someone because I'm an awkward potato and I've never had luck when it comes to that.
This is one of my favourite contemporary books. I cannot wait for this period to pass so I can read more of Rainbow Rowell's books because they're amazing. And I've heard amazing things about her other books.

Tell me what you thought of the book, if you've read it, in the comments. I'd love to hear your opinion on the book :D

Goodbye,
D.

The tag

I decided to do the bookish identity tag, because reasons.
This tag was created by LittleBookOwl, BenjaminofTomes and Katytastic on youtube.
Here's the original video:

Now on to the questions!

What dystopian/fantastical world would you live in?

Most worlds in books are dangerous, but I think I would love to live in Middle Earth because elves and hobbits and awesomeness!
Who would your partner be?

This is a really hard question! There are soo many characters that I love and I would, basically, do, but I think I'd go with Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next Door. He's just adorable and I love him.

Who would be your godly mother/father? [Percy Jackson]

I took this quiz and it said that my mother is Aphrodite. I ain't even mad! If I chose my godparent myself, I would've gone with Athens.

Would you be a downworlder or nephilim? [Shadowhunter world]

I'd be a downworlder, a vampire to be more exact, because Simon. <3

Which house would you be in? [Harry Potter]

Pottermore sorted me in Ravenclaw which makes me a very proud one :D

Which faction would you be in? [Divergent]

Took the quiz from The Path to Allegiant thingie and I got Erudite. I would go in Amity tho, because I don't think I would be able to withstand the amount of things I would have to learn.

What would be your daemon [Northern Lights]

I haven't read the book series or know anything about it, but I took this quiz which I don't think is very accurate, and it gave me squirrel. Oh well.

I don't know who to tag because I have no friends *cries*, but if you see this and wanna do it, go ahead! And link them to me because I would love to read them! Not even kidding! I love this tag!

K. Bye.

Top 5 to read in the Christmas season

Christmas is coming! In two months and one day, but the yule tide has already made it's way into my heart, thus making me feel the need to write this post.

1. Let It Snow by Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle and John Green

This book is about three love stories happening around Christmas. If you tell me this isn't enough to make you read this in the christmas season, I don't know what will!

2. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Every time I think of Christmas I think of fairy tales for some reason and that's why I think Christmas is the pest time to read Harry Potter by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate/tea/wine (I don't recommend the last one). So I think, even if you read just one book from the series this coming season, that you will feel better and more whole. Because the birth of Jesus was not enough!

3. The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling

I think this is one of the most perfect Christmas books to read! They are brilliant and you can finish this book in about an hour, even less! I hope that in 50 years this book will be the same as tales of the Grimm brothers are right now, known by everyone. Oh, wait, THAT'S HARRY POTTER!

4. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

You might see a pattern here *sighs* but this book is really good and when I read it I felt like I read it at Christmas time. If you love hobbits and magic and gnomes and awesomeness (and thilbo) you should totally read this book around Christmas time. I hope I will.

5. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

LEVEL UP! So, this book is so fucking good! And I don't necessarily think this is better to read this season, but I do. Everything that has to do with contemporary-fluffy-adorable-romance should be read this season because if will increase the level of fluffiness in your soul.

So this has been it! I hope you enjoyed my recommendations!
Thank you for visiting my blog <3
Goodbye,
Di.

Open letter to Veronica Roth

(if you haven't read Allegiant, you shouldn't read this)

Dear Veronica Roth,

I've read all your books. I love all your books. You are one of the most brilliant author out there. And I hope you read this one day, because it would mean a lot to me, not in an attention-seeking type of meaning, but in an actual deep meaning because your books made me feel things. I don't know how you do it, but you turned your last book in something more heart wrenching than a book by John Green (I know they're different genres, but yours made me leak like a freaking faucet for an hour!).
I know people will hate on you, especially the fangirls, for doing what you did in Allegiant. I don't hate you, and never will. You have every right to do what you did. You are the God of this story, to put it this way. I know you wanted Divergent to stand out from any other dystopian novel. I understand. I don't know necessarily what the purpose of this letter is, but mostly, I want you to know that I understand. I deeply, truly understand.
It broke my heart into tiny pieces when I read that scene and everything following. From before that, I started tearing up and when that happened, I started truly crying. Every time I remember her last thoughts or the way he reacted I feel a pressure in my chest, where my heart is. And then the tears come kicking and screaming to come out.
If any of your readers stumble upon this, I hope they understand and they don't hate you. You are a very talented and intelligent and really awesome (because adjectives) writer and I hope books will come spilling from you from now on.

Love,
Di, from Romania.

P.S.: Not even my cats can help me with my mourning.

Updates and things

The updates part: You may or may not have noticed that I haven't been posting as frequently as I used to. It's not like I've been posting a lot before, but I sure was posting at least once every other week.
Here's the reason of my absence: I started school last month. And I'm in my last year of highschool and I have lots of things to do: I have to write a thesis thingie from which I will get a diploma that I finished music school; I have a huge exam at the end of the school year that will decide my whole future, somehow. I'll sit exams for Romanian, English, Computer Technology, History and Philosophy. I have to study a lot only for Romanian, History and Philosophy, and they're kinda hard.
Also, I didn't write because I didn't know what to write about and, even if I have some books I have to review. I just didn't feel like it.
And now to the things part:
I made myself a program thingie for the books I read next. I just finished City of Glass, which was amazing, and I'll follow the program from now on, until I finish all the books I'm planing to read.
Henceforth, the list!

Before finishing City of Glass, I planned to read this right after it. I already read some from it and I cannot wait to get back into it.
Allegiant is coming out in two weeks and 3 days, what else of a reason would I have?

This comes in a week and something after Allegiant. I need comforting after it.
The movie comes out in November, and I won't be reading Catching Fire before the movie comes out because I'll judge the hell out of it and I'll end up probably hating it. It's also been about a year since I finished the series and I really want to reread it. I don't remember anything!
I'll have to read Catching Fire after the movie comes out. Yup.

So here ends my list! After reading these books, I'll probably be kinda sad, but I'll have to go with it. And keep on reading.

I have to go now. I missed posting and this post might just be rubbish and I don't care! I know I ramble a lot, but I still don't know what people are expecting of me to write or what's right or what's wrong to write to write on a blog like mine.

Goodbye,
D.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones & City of Ashes | the review

I READ THE FIRST TWO BOOKS OF THE TMI SERIES! And I'm really really happy about that!

So here we go with the reviews!

Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
Country: United States
Language: English
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Publication date: March 27th, 2007
Pages: 485 pages
Rating: ★★★★★
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

(synopsis from Goodreads)

I started this book in July, I think. And I read almost half of it and I just couldn't get into it. And then a month later I got the book back from the library and I made myself read it. And I am really really happy I did. Because I ended up loving it!
At first, I really didn't get how this book worked. It's because there is a lot of information about this Shadowhunter world and sometimes you wanna know some things about the world the book is set in, if you know what I mean. And it was really confusing to me. And as I want further into the story I kept over-analyzing everything and that kinda ruined my mood for it. I kept on reading tho, and by the time I hit page 180 I stopped reading and I started reading something else, and after I finished some books, I kinda missed this book and I wanted to watch the movie and I basically made myself read the book so I can watch the movie and overall, the book was really good.
The things Cassandra Clare does best in this book are the descriptions and dialogue. The descriptions are very very well written and imagined. Sometimes I felt that the book could've been shorter because of that, because it wasn't necessary to describe everything so much. But this was balanced out by the dialogue, which was brilliantly done. The characters were very funny and sarcastic, especially Jace and Simon.
The thing that the book lacked, in my opinion, was the character development or at least the fact that their personalities seemed to lack something. And also, Clary was very annoying in this book. And I didn't like her that much.
I loved Magnus! LOVED HIM! Also, I don't understand why Alec and Isabelle were skeptical about Clary being a Shadowhunter (well, I get why Alec hated her), even after JACE MARKED HER AND SHE LIVED! AND SHE.COULD.SEE.THEM!
I was very very scared for Simon after that scene in Hotel Dumort And I just basically wanted to hug him and just kiss him on his forehead and tell him that everything was going to be alright after he saw Clary and Jace kiss.
If you're skeptical about reading this book after watching the trailer of the movie, just read it. It's worth the try.

---WARNING! This review will contain spoilers! Read at your own risk!---

Title: City of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Country: United States
Language: English
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Publication date: March 25, 2008
Pages: 464 pages
Rating: ★★★★★
City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)
Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go -- especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil -- and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings -- and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

(synopsis from Goodreads)

I liked this book waay better than the first one. This was obviously a lot better written and well plotted. The characters were better, the story line was better and everything was better! I had seriously low expectations for this one and I was scared to start it! And then I couldn't stop.
I didn't want to write this in the CoB review because I didn't want to spoil it too much. I was already spoiled about the fact that Jace and Clary "are" siblings, and the fact is, if I hadn't known that, I would've believed Valentine BECAUSE HE SEEMED SO PERSUASIVE! I didn't believe him when he told Jace that "he wouldn't hurt his sister" when he obviously intended to kill her. I just, nope! I hate Valentine. HE KILLED SIMON! He is like somewhat of a racist son of a byatch, kinda like Voldemort, except that Valentine didn't do it just and only for himself, Valentine wants to do what he does because he truly believe it's for the best of the Shadowhunters, EVEN IF IT'S OBVIOUSLY BULLSHIT! Or let's just call him a Dalek.
I was scared when Jace went to Valentine's ship because I thought he would say yes to his offer, and I knew deep down that he would never do that.
The relationship between Simon and Clary seemed, even if I really made me grin, a bit weird. And all of the sudden. And I was scared that Clary was going to break up with him, not the other way around BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN AND I'M REALLY HAPPY!
The whole changing of perspectives made me more confused than a chameleon in a bag of skittles, but I realised after 50 pages that it was for the best.
About Simon, I LOVE SIMON! I stumbled upon some reviews of the books in which they said that they didn't like Simon. WHY?!?!?!?! He's the most adorable thing ever! And as a nerd, I know he's my type! And I was SHOCKED when I read that part with him being a vampire. As we all know, vampires are usually really "sexy, bad-ass, confident, arrogant", but he's not that at all! He's a vegetarian, which I fucking love (I am not one, but am aspiring to be one), Jewish (it just makes him different), not arrogant, and not necessarily sexy, just cute, and not bad-ass, just witty. And I love him! It's really nice to finally see a vampire that's just not like the typical vampire. He's the only vampire that I would do, basically.
I know I blabber a lot in these reviews. Excuse me.
I just loved this book a lot more than the first one and everything is SO EXCITING! And I genuinely do not know what else to say about it.

I feel like I read about 5 books with reading just these two because they're very action packed and long! Cannot wait to read the next books and The Infernal Devices. AWWWEEYEEEAAH!

Finally, I have to go. Am sorry for the blabbering. I was watching TV while writing this. Judge me.

Goodbye,
E.

The Mortal Instruments : City of Bones | Movie Review

So I just watched the CoB movie. And I wanted to talk about it. I read the book and I really liked it in the end.

I didn't really enjoy this movie as I was expecting. I didn't have huge expectations because I watched some reviews on youtube and the movie wasn't promising. I was just excited to see it. I really really enjoyed the book and in my head this book could've been a great great movie.

There were many things I didn't like. Everything was so rushed! I get that they wanted "to please the fans" and get everything major, which they did, in the movie, but it was too much! And waaay to rushed! There were things that they could've ignored and not put.
Magnus Bane's acting was good, but not for this. The character is very fabulous and sassy and awesome. He was too serious. It had all this asian drama vibe, and it didn't do well with the audience, nor with the character. It was really bad. He should've smiled more. That scene when they go to his party, it should've been longer and not as confusing. It was very wtf-ish. So was the scene when they go to the Silent Brothers. That was really, why?! The basically pulled us a Percy Jackson.
Another thing that bothered me from the bundle of mehs, is that even if the stuck a great deal with the book, the things they did change from the plot line were REALLY dumb! Like when Clary sees Jace, Alec and Isabelle kill the demon. THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED! If they had stuck perfectly to the book in this scene, it would've been a lot better. I was always reluctant on reading this book because of the trailer of the movie, and because of this particular scene. I hated the last part with Valentine. HE SHOULDN'TVE BEEN THAT AGGRESSIVE! He should've been charming and mischievous and  mind controlling. He was all this little shit in the movie! I like the actor, but not as Valentine. Just no. At the end of the book, everything looks so convenient for Clary. Like, look! I have a stele! I'll just put a rune on my arm and just conveniently clean this place out! HER PLACE WAS FULL OF FORSAKEN! HOW THE SHIT DID SHE GET THERE ALIVE?!
All hail bare chested Robert Sheehan!
I didn't like that Alec and Isabelle were just there, with no actual lines and just chillin' behind Jace and Clary. And THAT was really shitty. They were really important characters and Isabelle wasn't as sassy as in the books. And they should've been more present in the movie, as in talk and stuff.
Cast wise, this movie was almost spot on. Lily Collins is so beautiful! She's gorgeous! She is the perfect Clary after seeing the movie. Jamie Campbell Bower wasn't really the best Jace, but if he were more sassy and sarcastic, he would've been perfect. Looks wise, he was perfect. Kevin Zegers was really good as Alec, his accent being fucking AWESOME! Jemima West as Isabelle didn't blow me away because all throughout the book I was under the impression that she was blond. Yes... AND FINALLY! ROBERT SHEEHAN AS SIMON!
HE.WAS.FANTASTIC! His Irish accent sometimes surfaced, but those was probably just my sharp hearing. Still, Simon is probably my favourite character in the book, even if he's a bit of an idiot, but he's adorable! I like him! He probably is my favourite character because of Robert Sheehan. #judgeme #sorry #notsorry
I just feel like this movie could've been way better. But considering the fact that this book is pretty hefty and also with a shit load of information, I don't think it could've been done another way. I will watch it again in a few months, just to be sure about my opinion.

If you reached this part of the post, I'm really proud of you! YOU READ THROUGH MY WHOLE REVIEW! And I am thankful for that.
